Sinologic shares its statistics

It’s been 22 years since we started this journey at Sinologic back in 2004, but when we began we used some tools that, let’s say, had a lot of hype but little staying power: We started with a hand-crafted page, then moved everything to PHP-Nuke (don’t think it strange, it was the closest thing to Slashdot or Barrapunto), later we moved to Drupal and around October 2006, we finally migrated everything to WordPress.

In that last migration, we lost all the articles (which weren’t that many or that valuable, but they were the first ones) and 20 years later, we have recovered them, perhaps not completely (images are missing and links age poorly —that’s the Internet for you—) but they’re back on Sinologic.

After 22 years, we’ve changed the theme

After 22 years of articles, we’ve changed the theme again, going back to our roots with a darker color and a more “hacker” look. Lighter, more readable, and with some improvements to make creating new articles easier.

The new website also has some Easter eggs and some curious hidden pages among the articles. It’s not easy to get to them, but surely someone will find them and then, I’d appreciate it if you let me know through our contact page.

New Statistics website

On the other hand, we’ve created a website with article statistics based on categories and tags, which lets us see when Sinologic’s star topic had its “boom”: VoIP (back around 2007/2008). You can see it in the “Statistics” section if you’re curious.

As always, we count on companies that have been supporting us for many, many years, such as InstantByte and CiudadWireless, and quite possibly we will soon have new sponsors.

We have some new ideas we’d like to share, though let’s say we want to start by encouraging all readers to create an account at Sinologic and thus enjoy some extra benefits. 😉

We started in 2004 … … and 22 years later, we’re still going strong. 😉

And now we want to hear from you — what do you think of this new redesign?
